Meeting canceled for March 2026
2026 WV Legislative Session Wrap Up for Landlords The 60 day session ended March 14.
Here's where our bills landed.
What passed: 5% income tax cut (SB 392) retroactive to Jan 1, 2026 Small Business Growth Act (SB 1) signed into law
What didn't make it: HB 4570 Eviction posting service. Passed House 84 to 8, died in Senate. SB 799 Guaranteed eviction hearing in 5 to 10 days. Passed Senate 32 to 0, died in House. HB 5532 Double taxation ban on rentals. 3rd year dying in committee. HB 5334 DV lease termination and tenant privacy. 3rd year dying in committee.
Both eviction reform bills had overwhelming support in their originating chambers. They ran out of time, not votes. Both are strong candidates for 2027.

If anyone would like to volunteer to start making calls next year before our 2027 session, let's start early.
As a side note, I have a last minute trip I am heading out to today, so unfortunately we won't have a meeting tomorrow. I am going to try and get a speaker on Fair Housing. There has been some recent questions on what we as landlords need to do for accomodations and thought it would be a good time to get an expert.
